Commonly asked questions about Optimmune Eye Ointment:

What is Optimmune Eye Ointment?
Optimmune is a prescription eye ointment that contains the immunosuppressant Cyclosporine. Dogs can suffer from a range of eye conditions that cause dryness, discharge, and discomfort. Optimmune can help relieve the swelling and irritation caused by persistent eye conditions caused by immune system disorders.

Why do cats and dogs use Optimmune?
Optimmune is often prescribed to treat two of the most common eye conditions in dogs -- keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) and chronic superficial keratitis (CSK).
Optimmune is also prescribed to treat other immune-mediated eye problems.

What else should I know about Optimmune?
Optimmune will control symptoms of KCS and CSK, but will not cure the conditions. Lifetime use is required. Store Optimmune at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight.

What problems could my dog or cat have with Optimmune?
It may take weeks to notice improvement and see if the Optimmune is working.
Optimmune may cause mild burning, stinging, irritation, or redness of the eye.

How do you use Optimmune?
Use proper administration techniques to avoid contamination of the Optimmune. Keep the cap on when not in use. Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressant. Wear gloves when handling the medication to protect yourself. Wait 5 minutes after applying Optimmune to the eye before administering any other eye medication.

What is in Optimmune?
The drug in Optimmune is Cyclosporine. Cyclosporine suppresses the immune system.
